The classic 78-card tarot system was designed by A.E. Waite and the iconic deck was gorgeously, meaningfully illustrated Patricia Coleman Smith and originally published in 1909. The lush symbolism of the cards draws on multiple mystical and spiritual traditions, and was heavily influenced by the 19th-century European occult movement; both creators were members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. This edition comes in an attractive box, which includes a full deck of cards and a 48-page book that describes the meaning of each card and provides sample spreads and reading insights.
